Day 8 S.Agata
Day 1 S. Agata - Vulcano
On the first day you will be shown on board your yacht, meet the
crew and explore the ship. After a briefing concerning the basics
of yacht steering and safety at sea, we will set off for our first
cruise. We will set off at dusk, heading for the Volcano island.
The first night of this sailing-cruise will be spent on anchor, in
a bay at the foot of Gran Cratere (499 m).
Day 2 Vulcano - Panarea
After a delicious breakfast, we will climb one of active
volcanoes of the Gran Cratere archipelago. Besides looking into the
crater of the volcano and observing sulfur flows, we will enjoy the
view of the whole Lipari archipelago, Sicily, the still active
Stromboli volcano and, if we are lucky enough, we will even be able
to see the majestic Etna. Returning to our yacht, we will sail to a
small island called Panarea whose architecture and atmosphere
reminds us of the well-known Greek island Santorini. A stroll
through this island and a glass of good wine will be a perfect
celebration of this pleasant day. After dark we might even observe
eruptions of Stromboli on the horizon from our vessel
Day 3 Panarea - Stromboli
In the morning, we will depart from Panarea and sail to near
cliffs, famous for their underwater life. Volcanic springs at sea
bottom, 5 metres underwater, will take your breath away.
Snorkelling in this warm bubbling water in front of the beautiful
cliff as backdrop is memorable experience.
Having had enough swimming and rest in this natural jacuzzi, we
will have lunch and continue our sailing-cruise towards Stromboli.
Her majestic fuming cone can be seen from great distance. In late
afternoon, we will arrive at a volcanic beach in a traditional
fishing village San Vicenzo, with the top of Stromboli directly
overhead. An evening walk in the village and eruptions of the
volcano at night will mark the end of this unforgettable day full
of sailing and pleasure.
Day 4 Stromboli - Salina
Today we will climb the Stromboli, either on foot or being
carried by a donkey. The marvellous view of the surrounding islands
and the crater is worth the effort. Back on the vessel, we will
sail to the Salina island and spend the night in Santa Marina.
Day 5 Salina - Filicudi
Leaving Salina, we are heading for Filicudi island 18Nm away.
Passing Salina from the north, we will be able to admire its rugged
rocky coastline. We will make a stop for swimming and snorkelling
and will even try to catch tuna. We will arrive at Filicudi island
in late afternoon, soon enough to climb the inactive Mt. Fossa
Felice, 775 m, and watch the sunset from there. After this
spectacle we will return to our ship for overnight.
Day 6 Filicudi - Lipari
Today we will be heading for Lipari, the main town of the whole
volcanic archipelago. We will pass the southern coast of Salina
island, cross the strait between Salina and Lipari and arrive at
its eastern coast. On our way, we will try to catch some fish, take
a swim and relax in the sun onboard our ship. Then we will see the
town and its sights, dominated by the fortress on the cliff.
Everybody will undoubtedly like this town and its ancient
history.
Day 7 Lipari - S. Agata
Once again will we enjoy the view of Gran Cratere at the Vulcano
island, a beach with volcanic sand, the sun and water pleasures. On
the way to our home marina, we will pass the cliffs at the west
coastline and sea caves therein. We will already be able to see the
Sicilian mainland and the inaccessible villages in the mountains
which have, for centuries, protected their inhabitants from pirate
raids. We will leave the ship in the S. Agata Marina and visit the
town nearby.
Day 8 S. Agata
After a week of easy pace and relaxation, the last day may seem
a bit hectic. However, packing and disembarkment are always
associated with a bit of stress and mixed feelings. Each of us
takes home superb memories and loads of experience, returning from
a holiday you will remember for always.
